Question
i have a four year old gray and i would like to get a new baby gray. would my four year old accepet the new baby.

Answer
Hi Lizzie,

I wouldn't be overly concerned if your current grey accepts the new addition or not. Some birds can become very jealous of other birds, especially greys from what I've heard. You just have to be very cautious when introducing them and have all playtimes together supervised.

A few months ago I introduced a young grey to my Cockatoo and everything went splendidly. He took to her quite quickly, my cockatoo on the other hand wasn't overly pleased but tolerated him, lol.

One word of advice that worked amazingly for me, make sure you pay MORE attention to your 4 year old grey than you do to the baby. I know you may think you need to pay a LOT of attention to the baby, which is true for socialization purposes. BUT, if you want the new addition to fit in with your current grey, then pay more attention to him so he feels like he's still loved and not being replaced. Parrots are VERY intelligent, especially greys, and greys are also very sensitive and empathic.

Also, don't keep them in the same cage together, they both need their own space!!!

Hope this helps!
