My 3 year old German Shepherd doent bark

Hi, I have a 3yr old male German Shepherd.  I rescued him from a farmer who was giving his dogs away to the pound.  I have had the dog 4 weeks now, however he hasn't made a sound yet. Not Barking or vocalising, even when he is happy, and i know he is as he wags his tail and greets me by licking.  I have another 20mth old shepherd female and she always alerts when other people come to the fence.  He should have picked up some tips from the female by now.  Has he got a problem?

Give the dog another 8-10 wks. I've found that when most dogs are put into a whole new environment their main focus for the first few months is on figuring out how the household works, and as a result they tend to exercise a bit of caution about expressing any forms of aggression (which is what barking is).
