Walking our dog

Question
My family has an Australian Silky Terrier (a two year old named Peanut).  He is walked four times a day. At six thirty in the morning, after school (at three in the afternoon), six in the evening, and around ten o'clock at night. Every walk is usually around ten minutes, except for the six o'clock evening walk, which is about twenty to thirty minutes long.  From time to time, as we walk our dog, he will stop walking and stay in the spot he stopped in, refusing to continue and finish the walk.  I wanted to know if we're walking him to many times a day?  Is that why he'll keep stopping and refuse to complete his walk?

Answer
Hi, Shanelle,

Four walks a day is not too many. In fact it's probably the exact right amount.

My feeling is that the behavior you described, of him stopping and refusing to move, may be taking place because for some reason Peanut isn't having much fun during that part of his walk.

What do you use to walk him with, a regular collar, a body harness, or a head halter? And what kind of leash do you use?
