Cat trying to tell me something

Question
My boy Gibson is 1yr and 5mnths old. The past week or so he's been more vocal than usual. He'll follow me everywhere while crying/whining with his tail up in the air flicking about. He has food and the door is open for him to play outside so i don't know what else he could want. It doesn't seem to be because of pain because he doesn't do it all the time and he doesn't moan when i pick him up. He's definitely trying to tell me something... Just for added info, he has a brother Sebastian so he's not a lonely kitty.

Answer
Stephanie,

Anytime a cat has an obvious change in behavior it is good to take it to the vet for an exam. It could be a medical issue instead of a behavioral issue. Example: he may have urinary stones or urinary crystals. Has he peed anywhere besides his litterbox (a sign of stones/crystals)? Cats don't always moan when they have pain.

You didn't mention whether Gibson is neutered or not. My guess is that he is, but if not, that could cause behavior changes.

Flicking his tail could mean that he is copping an attitude, or it may be because he has fleas.

Have you been playing with him as much as before? He may just be asking you for attention.

I hope this gives you a direction to help figure out his behavior.
