Green Cleaning Products You Can Make Yourself

27 11:22:28
Whether by accident or design, DIYers tend to be some of the greenest people out there. They like to take cheap, ordinary ingredients and turn them into something worth a lot of money and rather unordinary. They enjoy finding things that others would throw away and making them into something of value. If that sounds like how you think, why not become a DIY extraordinaire and make your own green cleaning products?

A Couple Natural Ingredients to Include:

White vinegar is going to become the basis of all your cleaning duties, so look around local stores and find the cheapest way to buy a big gallon of it. Vinegar is known for killing off bacteria, mold, and mildew and is safe for use in all rooms of the home and even for washing laundry as an all natural color booster.

Buy a few squirt bottles, put a nice thick line around the mid-point of the bottle, and simply mix it half with water and half vinegar for a powerful green cleaner that can be squirted anywhere. Clean your kitchen with it then get the bathroom sparkling. If you come across something that needs a serious scrub down you could keep a special bottle handle that has a higher concentration of vinegar.

Just make sure to make your green cleaning products so you know what concentration is in what bottle!

Baking soda is another ingredient that you will be using a lot of as you keep your home sparkling and bacteria-free without chemicals and pesticides. You don't have to add baking soda directly to your spray bottle since it will do a lot of bubbling and fizzing when it mixes with the vinegar, but you can sprinkle it on top of areas that have been sprayed with vinegar to give it a boost of power. Just leave the soda on for awhile and go back later to wipe it up.

It has to be noted that some people who are truly green in all aspects of life insist that baking soda isn't green enough. It is a mined product, which some argue means it is not self-sufficient.

Some people like to squeeze fresh lemon juice into their DIY green cleaning products for a fresh scent, but basic white vinegar, water, and perhaps some baking soda is all you need to create very basic products that will keep your entire home sparkling.

You can find out about some other ingredients which some people use to create a variety of different eco-friendly cleaning products for their home, but some of them are not very easy to find. Peracetic acid and tea tree oil are used by many people who enjoy mixing up their own cleaning products.

DIY vs. Store Products

There are some green cleaning products that can be purchased through stores or online, but you need to read the labels carefully and educate yourself about the big long words that you find there. There are some store bought or distributor based products that are entirely green, but you will have to seek them out from the many others that are "mostly" green but not quite there.

Whether you go with store bought eco-friendly cleaning products or purchase the white vinegar and start mixing your own, you will sleep easier at night knowing you have not sprayed dangerous chemicals into the air that your family, friends, and pets breathe in!
