Essential Components of Shiba Inu Training

Shiba Inu training is one of the most important gifts you can give your pet. It is due to training that a pet learns how to get along well with other dogs as well as people, knows obedience commands and most of all, knows how to respond to events therefore reducing the risk of destruction, injuries and other problems.

Training has various components with each component aiming on one lesson. The first component that needs to be done as early as possible is socialization. During socialization, puppies are exposed to various sights and sounds common in everyday life. Socialization makes him understand that people and vehicles passing by are not foes and that cars, tall buildings, vet clinic, telephone, washing machine, vacuum cleaner and many other household appliances are not something to be scared of. A puppy that is well-socialized early in life has lesser risk of developing behavior issues and greater chance of developing skills in creating social relationships. On the other hand, if you are adopting an adult dog from the shelter or getting one from a family member or friend, you can still socialize him the same way you would socialize a puppy.

Potty training is another important component that Shiba Inus need to undergo as early as possible. Cleaning after your pet's poop or pee everyday for the next 12 to 15 years will not make you really happy, right? Besides, replacing stained carpets and rugs and smelly furniture can be costly so it is indeed important that your pet is reliably potty trained. While you are socializing your pet, it is also advisable to start housebreaking him. With young puppies, you need to take them out to urinate or defecate at least every hour. Young puppies need constant supervision and assistance from you because they do not have full control of their bladder and bowel just yet. With Shiba Inu training, the hourly urination or defecation can be lessened to every two hours then in the end only a few times a day particularly after waking up in the morning, when nervous or excited, after eating or drinking, after exercise and before going to bed at night.

One more component of Shiba Inu training is obedience training. During obedience training, your Shiba Inu is taught how to obey various commands - from the most basic come, sit, stay and down to more complicated like roll over, play dead, crawl and other commands that can make him an excellent hunting companion. It is important for your pet to master the basic commands first because through those commands, you will be able to control your pet, prevent accidents and keep everyone safe. Additionally, basic commands also serve as foundation when teaching complicated commands mentioned.
