Treating your Dog抯 Ear Infections at Home

29 9:39:44

Anyone that has a dog knows how expensive it can be to take them into the vet every time they get an ear infection. While they do offer ways to help your dog work through the ear infection, they are usually only temporary and cost you much more money than it should.

? Pet store remedies aren抰 any better, and they can cost you quite a bit of money as well. If you want to help your dog get rid of an ear infection, without having to pay out all the money involved with a vet, there are some home remedies that you can try, instead.

The first thing you are going to want to do is make sure your dog has an actual ear infection rather than an underlying health issue that is causing it to have an ear infection. You should consult with your vet about this and find out what is actually causing your dog to scratch and rub its ears so much before attempting to do anything to fix it. If you don抰, you can actually cause more damage.

Usually, what resembles an ear infection will turn out to be ear mites. You can get medication from your vet that will clear up the mites and your dog will be back to normal in no time. However, if your dog has a full on ear infection, you can take equal amounts of white vinegar, rubbing alcohol, and hydrogen peroxide. Make sure they are at, or just above, room temperature and draw the mixture into a needless syringe.

With your pet secured in front of you or in your lap, gently rub its ears and head and reassure it in calming tones that everything is going to be OK. Tilt its head so you can place about half a teaspoon of the mixture in its ear, and gently clean it out with a paper towel.
