Easy Electric Rat Traps

No one wants to have a rodent infestation - especially in their own homes. There are ways to prevent an infestation from occurring. Either you can stop the rodents from entering your home, which may be an almost impossible task, or set traps in strategically located places to head them off if they should be lucky enough to gain entrance. Now, if you set traps, you have some choices worth your consideration.

The most typical traps are the traditional snapping traps. Then you have the more recently developed electronic traps. Electric rat traps, also known as electronic rat traps, are the modern day form of the timeless snapping rodent traps. An electronic rat trap is an enclosed unit which does not expose those in close proximity to grotesque instances of rodents which have been put to death.

Electric rat traps are considered more humane because they shock the rodent, instead of brutally bludgeoning it in a draconian manner. Also, with electric traps, you do not have to worry about unsightly exposed rat remains. You simply pick up the trap, with no worry of coming into contact with the rat remains because it is contained within the unit, and empty the contents. You are now free to reset the trap so it continues to protect your home.

There are no dangerous poisons to contend with. This is an important point when you have young children and curious pets running about your home. Another benefit is electronic traps are not as messy as the old glue traps. Glue traps accumulate dust and dirt over time, thus reducing their effectiveness by a wide margin. They may be accidentally stepped on, or home furnishings may be inadvertently pushed onto them. Glue traps are simply not worth the fuss. Electronic trap use is on the rise and is the most convenient for eliminating rodents.

The method of elimination is an electric shock, being administered for approximately two minutes after the trap has been sprung. This two minute period is necessary because rats have been known to restart their own hearts after receiving a momentary shocked. Electric sensors located on the inside of the trap detect when a rat has entered the unit and begins administering the shocks. These electric rat traps are usually powered by commonly purchased batteries. A single set of batteries provides up to a dozen of kills.

With the conventional snapping rat traps, the user has to deal with the possible splattering of a rodent's bodily fluids. This has the potential to be hazardous because rodents do harbor dangerous diseases. Then the user must contend with cleaning up the residue, if any, as well as the general area of the trap to make sure no infestations regarding microbiological organisms have been left behind.

This outdated method of snapping into a rodent to eliminate it is also considered inhumane by today's civilized society. Even though rodents are considered pests, they should no longer be eliminated by way of archaic methods.

So for the average homeowner, if need be, deploying electric rat traps are more humane, less messy, and easy to use.
