Choosing the right guinea pig home is a very important decision you will have to make, so be sure the listen to the advice here before you go out shopping for your pets new home. Your guinea pig's home must be something that it is going to like otherwise it could get stressed and sick.

There are many different choices when it comes to choosing the perfect guinea pig home. In fact, you'll see that there are many different varieties, sizes, and shapes to select from. While many will be specifically designed for guinea pigs, others are more designed for any small little pets. For the most part, your guinea's won't be able to tell a difference so long as you make it comfortable for them.

The first thing you want to look for in your new guinea pig home is how big it is. Make sure that it will be able to fit at least two guinea pigs or more comfortably. That means that they will have room to run and play without having to rest or sleep in their own feces. Yuck!

A small cage is just not a very humane thing to do to your lovable pet. The way I see it, is the bigger cage you can get, the better off your guinea will be. Now I'm not saying you need to get your guinea an entire room in the house to itself, but the more room it has, the happier and healthier it will be.

When looking for a guinea pig home, make sure to stay away from cages that have open wire bottoms. Your guineas won't be able to move too much on this and they definitely wont be comfortable. Find a cage with a solid bottom, plastic will work just fine.

Another thing to consider in a guinea pig home is how easy it is for you to be able to clean it often. Some cages have easy slide doors, and big doors so you can get your entire arm in there in clean it as thoroughly as it needs. A big door will also allow you easy access for you to grab your guinea, play with , and pet.

Last but not least, there are some items that a guinea pig home cannot be without. They need something to sleep on, and the best bedding you can buy is Timothy hay. Your guineas will love it because it is soft and comfortable to sleep on, but it is edible as well. Some bedding's like straw and certain types of wood shavings should never be used. Your guinea could get sick because of it.

Use the above advice when selecting your guinea pigs new home and I guarantee your guinea will love you even more.
