How to Make a Cake Treat for Your Horse. Reward your horse for her love and loyalty, and give her a break from her usual equine bill of fare with a special cake treat. Cake treats for horses are easy to make and loaded with yummy and nutritious horse-friendly food such as carrots, honey and oats. Here is how to make cake for your horse.

Things Needed

• 6 cups oats or sweet feed
• Mixing bowl
• 1 1/2 cup pure honey or molasses
• Wooden spoon
• Large piece of cardboard
• 2 apples, sliced
• 2 carrots, sliced lengthwise
• 1 plastic mixing bowl
• 1 small apple, chopped
• 3 tbsp. brown sugar
• Molasses
• Sugar cubes

Oat and Molasses Cake Treat

Step 1

Put the oats or sweet feed in a large mixing bowl.

Step 2

Stir in the pure honey or molasses with a wooden spoon. The mixture will be thick and sticky.

Step 3

Put the horse cake mixture on a large piece of cardboard and form it into a cake shape. Decorate the cake with apple slices.

Step 4

* To turn a horse cake treat into a special birthday cake, cut about three large carrots into sticks and poke them into the top of the horse cake to resemble candles.

Carrot Cake Horse Treat

Step 1

Put half of the carrots in the bottom of the bowl.

Step 2

Top the carrots with a layer of apples and cover the apples with the remainder of the carrots.

Step 3

Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the top of the carrots.

Step 4

Drizzle some molasses over the brown sugar.

Step 5

Top the cake with sugar cubes, and serve it to your horse.
