Backyard Dangers - Why Your Dogs Life May Be In Danger

Have you considered that your dog's life may be in danger just from him hanging out in your backyard? About a year ago, my friends' 4 puppies were poisoned by their neighbors who threw in some meat soaked with rat poison and all of the puppies died some very painful death. This sure isn't something that should be taken lightly if you love your dogs and want them to live happily to ripe good age.

Your backyard may be a dog's paradise, but the area can be fraught with danger, especially if you have a puppy that is young, adventurous, and going through that oral fixation phase where he must chew on anything he can find. What if you dog bites onto something that carries poison without your knowing and they might suffer seriously or even die some painful death.

They will never forget having seen such painful scene of life quickly replaced by death just because of some heartless souls who were not fond of dogs and would do whatever it took to get rid of them in this uncivilized manner. Now they'd never leave their dogs unattended at the backyard even though they now have built solid cover that shields and fences the area.

Your backyard is a dog's heaven because such a young and adventurous new life will definitely enjoy running free within this homely environment. But if you are not careful enough, heaven forbids, some potential problems that might be hiding somewhere could very cause fatal damage to your dog.

Let's not forget that, puppies, between the age of 1 and 6 months, are still going through what is called oral fixation phase in which they'd just chew on anything in sight. Some other types of dogs, such as Golden retrievers, seem to carry this chewing habit with them for the rest of their lives.

This just makes it so easy to understand that leaving our dogs outside of the house is still considered unsafe because what if they might chew on something that they are not supposed to without our knowing. What if they happen to chase and play with some smaller animals that naturally carry certain kinds of poisonous substances on themselves for their own protection?

Therefore you must ensure about their safety as much as possible by puppy-proofing not only the yard area, but the inside of your home as well. Close garbage cans tightly. Lock up all pool supplies. Put away your lawn and garden materials. Further protect your dogs and other pets by following the instructions carefully given on pesticide products, fertilizers, bug sprays, and other hazardous materials lest they might chew on them while being playful.

It's so very important to your pet's life that all potential dangers are cleared and removed in the home environment such that you and your beloved pets can have the peace of mind without having to worry too much about some unpredictable to happen. Just treat your pets as if they're your little children and protect them similarly - they will thank you for it!
