Dogs have always been man's best friend for thousands of years and the relation with them is so strong that we can tell what they want to say most times. Howling is the dog's way of communicating with other dogs or to someone. It sounds like a long-range cry addressing dogs from a long distance. A howl is a prolonged and often times a dull sound. All howls don't sound similar but they are sent out to mean either as a message to keep strangers away or to call the members of the pack for hunting.

Just like a response to other sounds, dogs also cry for a number of reasons and they can howl as a response to annoying sounds such as noise, music, singing and other sounds of nature. One can notice how dogs howl in response to commotion, siren or a sudden shift of things around them. A dog also howls out of excitement. This means that a dog does not howl in response to bad things happening around as commonly believed. Dogs also howl as sign of separation anxiety. When talking about howl, there is a difference between howl and bark which is a series of short and snappy noise.

The main reason for a dog to hump is because of sex because it is a sexual and gesture. They get a good feeling from humping. When a dog gets heated, a brain chemical called serotonin goes crazy which causes the sexual aggressiveness behavior in the dog. When it gets out of control, the dog lets off steam at anything near. Sometimes humping makes dogs to wild bursts.

When a dog humps, neutering it will not solve the issue and it takes time for a neutered dog to accept that his organ is gone. What one can do is to eliminate a dog's humping in public. Patient training can bring positive results. It is not that one is erasing sexual drive from the dog's mind but it is being tough to respect.

Both howling and humping are of a dog's nature. Pet dogs will remain lovable even if they howl although the humping nature will not be good at all times.
