With the Pug's comical face you can't help but smile when you're looking at them. They are big clowns at heart that truly want to make you smile. They are ready and available for games at anytime and they must be close to the humans at all times. Pugs like to be the center of attention with all that they do and they become very upset that ignored. The pug is very square and thicker set and they usually a and of weighing no more than 20 pounds. Their heads are round and large with bright eyes. They have very distinct wrinkles on their face. It is sad that the Chinese who have mastered the breeding of this particular dog prize and these wrinkles because they resembled good luck symbols in their language.

 

Size

Pugs are relatively small in the dog world. A Pug will weigh between 14 to 18 pounds with some weighing up to 20 and generally they will be from 10 to 14 inches tall.

Personality

Don't expect the Pug to do any work like hunting or retrieving as they were bred to be companion animals and that's exactly what they do best. The Pug craves attention and will be very unhappy if their devotion isn't shared. This is a very sedentary dog that is content to sit around with you. This doesn't mean however that they're boring as they can be very playful dog that enjoys their own antics. The temperament of the Pug will depend on many factors including socialization and training. You'll find that puppies that have nice temperaments have been well socialized by the people around them. You want to choose a puppy that is more middle of the road and their litter mates to avoid many behavioral issues.

You always want to make sure to meet at least one of your dog's parents to ensure that they have a nice temperament that you're going to be comfortable with. Like every dog a pug needs to have early socialization so that they can grow up to be a well rounded dog.

Because of the Pugs comical disposition they can fit well into almost all environments. They are easy going and get along great with everyone, from small children to the elderly.
