Animal Lovers Make a Big Splash for Hot Dogs

In late June, two doctors from Georgia donated more than a dozen wading pools to animal control and humane societies in Dougherty, Albany, Terrell, and Lee counties.

The doctors, Lorenzo Carson and Peter Taylor, were inspired to take this action after animal control officers said that the pools could help dogs make it through the summer in the south, where temperatures often go into triple digits.

“You know there is lots of stuff you can do, it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg,” Taylor told the local ABC affiliate, WALB News 10.

Many shelters will welcome a donation of a wading or kiddie pool. But they really should be on every dog owner’s must-have list. The hard plastic ones are best for dogs, because canine claws can puncture inflatable ones.

For as little as $5, you can buy a lot of summer fun. At least one dog owner we know has used the same pool for 13 years.
