The size of the cages should also be considered. Bigger animals like dogs should be placed in a bigger cage where they can still stand or walk around a little. For mixed animals like the hamsters or the guinea pigs, it should be big enough for the animals to move around and if they have sleeping areas.
b.The aisles. There should be enough space for clients and employees to walk around loosely. Also the aisles should be free from animal dirt and wastes.
c.Ventilation and overall cleanliness. Pet shops should be clean and it should be well ventilated. It is given that some animals like dogs have a particular smell but an awfully smelling pet shop is a big no-no. Cleanliness should be maintained in corridors, in the grooming area, in the receiving area and the like.
d.The employees. The people working behind pet shops should be well rounded. It is important for the employees to address the questions, concerns and some apprehensions by the clients.
