Senegal vs Quaker?

Question
I'm moving in with a friend who has a Quaker Parakeet. "Stewie" is a few years older than my little Senegal Parrot (who is only about 7 months old), and although he can be aggressive, he can also be extremely affectionate. My Senegal is very curious and extremely playful, and is always very affectionate. My roommate and I both work full time jobs, however, and we hope that they will be able to get along and keep each other company while we're gone. We don't need them to share a cage, however.

My question is this: What can my roommate and I do to help them get along, if it even seems possible?

Answer
You and your friend already have the right idea in making sure they're kept separately.
We discourage physical contact between ALL of our birds in order to keep them human-bonded, although they are kept in the same room and enjoy 'talking' with each other.

The other reason to keep them from physically interacting is to maintain even a slight level of safety from passing on any disease (not all diseases are apparent right away and may take many years to present symptoms; also, some birds only carry the disease).
Finally, there's always "accidental" beak biting. Even birds who have spent decades together may suddenly get carried away and injure the other.

See our rescues and even a pretty scary pic of a beak 'accident' at our site:

Keep up your good work and attention! What a happy household this should be!
