What Are The Pet Training Difficulties When You Have Two Puppies?

There is always a question put forward in the leading pet forums: Should I buy more than one dog at a time as there is a great dogs for sale event going on in my vicinity? The answer to this question would vary. If you are a relatively new pet owner, then the advice would be No while if you are a seasoned pro and feel confident of providing sound pet training to any dog, then you may go forward. New pet owners may face a number of problems when there is more than one dog to take care of. Some of the things that may go against them are:

  • Raising a single well-behaved dog has its huge hurdles, let alone two dogs. You will have to train and socialize both of them equally. But dedicating the same amount of time for both these pups is not possible. Somehow or the other you have to cut half of the time for a pup. That means there will be certain shortcomings in the upbringing of the puppies.

  • You may buy a couple of dogs after judging their pedigree, but dogs are basically pack animals and this instinct sticks with them no matter how many thousand years of taming they have undergone. This sense of belonging in a pack can have many negative repercussions such as, if there are two dogs then the instinct increases. They will be more aggressive to even the owners.

  • You would ideally want the dog to consider you its best buddy and a fun friend to spend time with. When there is another dog, this feeling disappears. Both the dogs will run and play together, which means a bond with you will not be formed.

  • When there is no bonding with a human, it becomes excessively difficult to train dogs. Even pet training experts may find their work cut off.

There is a specific structure in any dog pack. There seems to be a sort of ranking. Both the dogs you own may remain playful in their first year but once they are full grown, the enticement to become a pack leader will get better of their friendship. This will lead to many fights. Dog fights not only injure the dog, they may also injure any person trying to come close. Dog fights are the first step to your dog growing up to become violently aggressive. There have been instances where a pack of dogs has attacked the guests coming to a home. When dogs attack in packs, they seem to forget all their indifference and become united. This can be very hard to control. At the end of the dog fights, a dominant dog will come up. This dominant dog can be a nightmare for the dog owner.

Just because there is a great offer on dogs for sale, it does not mean you have to buy multiple dogs. Only experts in pet training can handle the load of bringing up two well-behaved dogs.
