3 List Marketing Strategies That Will Take Your Online Profits To The Next Level

Building a list is probably the most important task a marketer should do, because there's amazing amounts of potential long-term income in having a responsive list. With loyal subscribers, you could easily pocket hundreds to thousands of dollars for sending out just one email.

When you've started building your list, it may seem impossible to get thousands of subscribers, but it's not. You just need to keep on testing different methods and do more of the ones that are working.

Marketing to your list is just as important as building it though. You need to continuously nurture your relationships with your subscribers and maintain their trust. Here are some list marketing tips that will take you to a whole new level of online profits.

List Marketing Strategy # 1: Pick a General Niche and Stick With It.

A lot of online marketers are trying to conquer every niche that comes their way or every niche they think is a big money maker. But jumping around from one niche to another that are totally unrelated is not the best way to make the most of your time. Well, you may end up with a few people subscribed to each list in every niche you decide to enter; and if you combine them, they can all amount to a massive number.

But here's the problem... since you need to develop relationships with them and build their trust, you have to consistently send them emails related to their field of interest. So if you have several unrelated niches, on top of the fact that your opt-ins will be scattered, it's not going to be easy to keep up with everyone's needs and wants. That means you would have to invest a lot of time and effort to write individual emails for every list to satisfy all of their needs.

It's better to pursue multiple subniches under one general niche. So if let's say your general niche is on self-improvement, you could create squeeze pages on personal development subniches like law of attraction, motivation, etc.

Then every time you want to send a content or promotional email on anything about personal development, you can use the same email to send to all of your lists. Your message would still be relevant to the topic they signed up for because they are all under one general niche, which is self-improvement.

Having several unrelated niches may also be confusing. Let's say you have a list in the golf niche, dog food niche, dieting niche, and video game niche. It's possible that you may sometimes get confused and send the gamers something about feeding your dogs (or the dieters something about golf).

If this happens, they are not going to be very happy and might think you are spamming them, resulting in unsubscribes and spam complaints.

Now it doesn't matter which niche you choose to follow through with; but it's preferable to pick a general niche and stick with it. Here are some ideas:

- Pet care niche (Subniches include pet foods, pet grooming, pet training, etc.)
- Health niche (Subniches include bodybuilding, dieting, weight loss, workouts, staying young, etc.)
- Internet marketing niche (Subniches include list building, article marketing, product creation, etc.)

There's nothing wrong with entering a totally different niche if it's worth pursuing, but you must be willing to devote extra time in nurturing relationships with all your subscribers to cater to their individual needs.

List Marketing Strategy # 2: Follow Up with Your Paying Subscribers Offline.

Following up with your subscribers is an important aspect of list marketing alone. But have you ever thought how impressed your subscribers would be if you follow up with them using offline methods? They'll be blown away!

But if you got several thousands of subscribers, it's not cost-effective to send a personal snail mail to all of them. So what you could do in this case is to simply snail mail the most important subscribers in your list "" your paying customers!

If you don't have a separate list for your customers, you should start building one. You could put an opt-in form on your Download Page where you tell customers to give their personal details to get important updates and news.

Once you've built your list of customers, you can send them a postcard or some type of letter. This will make them feel like you really care about their situation. And in reality, you should take a personal interest because establishing a bond with your paying subscribers will keep them loyal and ready to buy from you.

It's all about trust in the list building world, and following up offline is the perfect way to build and keep that trust between you and your clients.

Don't just follow up once either; every so often send them another letter or postcard. Keep them informed and they will stay loyal to you.

List Marketing Strategy # 3: Give More Helpful Content than Promotional Offers.

Now you don't have to give away all your secrets or a free year long course or anything like that. But what you do need to do is make sure that you are giving much more information to your subscribers than mainly promotional offers.

And it's not necessary that you send out emails that are purely content. You can send helpful emails that your subscribers will love and still make money. Want some ideas? How about giving them a free report containing your affiliate links? Or let them watch a cool video on a webpage with a banner ad on the side. Or even if you send a content email, you can add a non-distracting P.S. at the end of your message. So you see, you can still make your subscribers happy and earn at the same time.

Let's say you are sending your list 3 emails every week. Well in that case, you could have 2 of those emails be content-based or semi-promotional, and 1 purely promotional offer. Once in a while, you could do 2 promotional offers but it can be in a form of review or bonus, where subscribers will feel like they're benefiting from your email despite selling something.

Use these tips now to take your list marketing efforts to the next level.
