Bloodhound Training: How To Train the Puppies

2016/5/4 10:15:29

To some people, dogs are like humans and more often, these people welcome their new canine friends the same way they would welcome a new member of the family. Puppies, with their adorable eyes and soft whimpers are often welcomed with excitement and treated as if they are the most innocent creatures in the world. But sadly, most puppies do not stay small and charming for the rest of their lives. Bad habits may develop along the way and your little angel could turn into a large monster you never dreamed about. To avoid this nightmare, your Bloodhound puppy must be provided with Bloodhound training for him to know how to behave in ways acceptable by his human companions.

When your puppy arrives home, start the training immediately. During your pup's first few days at home, you never have to cram every lesson or trick you want your pet to learn. Take things one at a time and start with socialization, a process that aims to get your pet accustomed to his surroundings as well as to other things, places and scenarios he will come across in the future. Your pup will need to realize that the speeding vehicle with a siren or that rumbling sound from above is not something to be scared of. Socialization should be done early so as to prevent various undesirable behaviors such as excessive barking and growling caused by fear, chewing due to boredom and jumping because of excitement.

Housebreaking should also be tackled while socializing your pup. When training your pup where and when to poop, you may want to consider using tools such as crate, paper pads, baby gates and of course, treats. The mentioned tools are proven effective in making housebreaking less challenging.

Once your pup is getting the hang of being at home, it's time to proceed to the next step of Bloodhound training - the basic obedience. The basic commands include sit, down, come and stay. These commands are essential in controlling and keeping your pet safe in various circumstances. Moreover, these commands also serve as foundation for more advanced tricks and lessons you may need to teach your pet in due time.

Like young kids, puppies have short attention span. Your pup may show interest to what you are teaching him in one moment but do not be surprised if you will see him bolt out of the training area a few seconds after. To keep his attention focused on you, start training in an area where there are less distractions and make each training session challenging and intriguing as much as possible. Given their curiosity, surely your pup will do nothing but keep an eye on you to find out what your next move would be.
