Zebra: the Stripped Cousin of the Horse

Zebras are known for their unique black and white stripped patterns. These mammals are a part of the horse family, and are close relatives of donkeys. Zebras are interesting creatures because even though horses and donkeys could be domesticated, this was not true of zebras. There are many different areas that zebras can be found in, but they are mostly found in areas such as plains and jungles. Each zebra's pattern is unique much like the fingerprints of humans. However, since they have such beautiful patterns, the species is becoming endangered because humans hunt them for their skin.

Zebras typically grow to be about 1 meter high and 2 meters long. They weigh about 350 kilograms. Keep in mind that there are various species of zebras, and they vary in size. For example, the grevy's zebra is considered to be one of the largest species of zebra that is found in the world today. The smallest zebra can be found in mountainous regions. Female zebras are normally smaller than their male counterparts. Plains zebras are the most common species of this animal.

Scientists have been studying the stripes that zebras have. Some of them believe that these animals were originally white, and they developed black stripes later on. However, the most recent studies show that zebras were originally black, and developed white stripes. Scientists have many different ideas as to why zebras have stripes. The zebra has many different features that allow it to be able to survive even though it lives among predators. Zebras have excellent hearing and eyesight, and they are even able to see when it is dark out.

Zebra is an animal that is belonged to horse family. Therefore, horse and ass are its cousins. However, it has never been domesticated unlike its two cousins.
