Puppy Behavior Problems - How To Correct And Deal With It

Puppy behavior problems will naturally show before you train and while you train your dog at home. Of course, it is just natural for puppies to bark, bite and chew on something or show aggressive behavior especially when threatened, but of course, you can train your puppies to overcome these behavior problems and be a good member of the family.

It is wise to train your puppy as soon as you get him home to avoid making bad behavior to develop, which can be difficult to correct when the puppy grows old. Of course, having a well-behaved dog in the family is an ideal one which can also make your relationship with your dog more rewarding.

Here are some of the few puppy behavior problems that you would most likely encounter in your pet and some ways on how you can deal with it.

Chewing and Biting

One thing that you don't want your puppy to do in the house is chewing on the furniture and other things that they can play with. You can get rid of their biting and chewing behavior by allowing them to chew on chew toys and just pulling yourself away or stop playing with him if he starts to nip and bite you. Obedience training can also help stop aggressive behavior in your puppies, so start with it as early as possible.

Allow your puppy to socialize with other dogs. This is the time where he can play, roll, bite each other and with that, they can also learn to control their biting. They will eventually learn that they are being rough when they see the reaction of other dogs when he bites them, so make sure your puppy is socialized once in a while.

Aggressive behavior

One of the puppy behavior problems that you need to check and watch out for also is their aggressive behavior towards other puppies. If this is not corrected early, you will have a difficult time correcting this when they become adults. Among the things that you can do to curb aggressive behavior is to allow your puppies to walk side by side together on a leash. You have to make sure they walk parallel together but not to close that can tangle their leash or make them touch each other.

You can also spray his face with water if he growls or show any sign of aggression. This way, he will associate the action with something negative and learn not to do it again.

Excessive barking

One of the most common puppy behavior problems is excessive barking and when he grows up with this habit, it will end up disturbing your neighborhood. If your puppy shows a habit of excessive barking, you can help him by starting with obedience training. Do not hurt your puppy though. Hurting your pet can make him more aggressive and for sure you don't want to end your training like that.

Indeed, puppy behavior problems can be taken cared of if you commit to give time to train your puppy to become a well-behaved pet.
