Mason The Dog - A True Survivor Of Deathful Tornado

In April 2011 dozens of tornadoes have swept across the southern U.S. states. The state of Alabama was affected the most. It killed at least 214 people. Hundreds of homes and shops were razed to the ground. And only one dog managed to survive and return home after three weeks of wandering with pretty bad injuries.

This is a story about Mason, a terrier mix, who stayed in a garage of his owner in Birmingham, when a tornado picked him up and carried off in an unknown direction. It is reasonable that there was no hope for its masters to see their beloved pet alive, but life can be surprising: after 20 day wandering elsewhere Mason came back to the destroyed house of his owners and, one should pay attention, with two broken legs after a disaster happened! He was found by his masters, who also came back home after stiff and deathful tornado and saw him sitting on what was left of their front porch!
Apparently, it was the most precious and valuable thing they could recognize after tornado took everything they ever had! It is especially touching story due to the fact that after tornado entered their area, owners escaped to the cover, but after it has gone, the dog disappeared too. The owners broke in tears for not saving the dog, which became an object of constant search for several days.

It is impossible to imagine what pain the dog has experienced until the veterinary’s aid was given. To be more specific, precisely the local veterinary has offered his services after hearing the breathtaking and touching story of Mason’s return. Malnourishment, dehydration, weight loss in addition to unimaginable pain in his front legs, which were completely broken, - these are the consequences of Mason’s facing fatal tornado!

No one can deny that the story of Mason, who was only one-year old, is a true example of animals’ heroism and incredible devotedness to people; probably, he stayed for a long time alone at home, waiting for someone to find him! He was cured in Vulcan Park Animal Care until the moment, when he would be ready to get a normal life of the puppy alongside his “parents”. Moreover, Mason has received enormous donations, notwithstanding being treated for free. All of them were transferred to those ones, who really needed much more help after tornado! Probably, the heroism of Mason could not be compared to any dog records, because it became the only thing, which encouraged locals to overcome sad and harassing aftermaths of lethal tornado!
