Why You Really Need A Home Security System

27 12:05:54
The effectiveness of home security systems has been in debate since the inception of the product. Is it really necessary to pay money to have some technology installed into your house? Some ask, doesnt a German Sheppard and a sign that says, Beware of Dogs work just as well?

According to statistics, 60 percent of home burglary attempts are unsuccessful if the house is fitted with some sort of home security system. This so-called system can be a number of things, however.

Dogs, for example, have been proven to be great proactive approach to warning off unwelcomed nighttime visitors. It does not make a difference if you are Paris Hilton and have a tiny, yapping Chihuahua dog named Tinkerbell, or if you are Mel Gibson with six Rottweiler houndsdogs are a smart preventive measure and serve as a form of a home alarm. It doesnt have to be a vicious, attacking dog by any means; a simple bark here and there is enough to ward off a burglar. Why? Because a dog, a cat, or a singing bird can have a psychological on a perpetrator and signal presence in the home, causing them to second-guess their attempt.

Additionally, research shows that if a burglar is given a choice of two houses, one with a home alarm system and one with a dog, some burglars will actually target the home with an alarm. This reasoning comes from the fact that if the owners are not present, police response time allows the thief several minutes to complete a quick sweep of the area. A dog on the other hand is an immediate obstacle and delay. A lot of the general population, naturally including burglars, are fearful of being attacked by a dog, so they elect to avoid situations where that is a possible outcome.

While dogs are serve a convenient double purpose, life companion and watchman, all studies suggest that by implementing a real security system, one is taking the smartest and most effective measures to protect their home. One article even says that simply having a sign in your lawn outside your front door that says home protected by XYZ home alarms systems, does in fact act as an effective deterrent to a perpetrator. Burglars often circumvent attempting a break in at a house clearly equipped with intruder alarm.

There are several advantages to arming your home with a security system. One clear reason people opt to take extra preventative measures is to protect their family and loved ones. Adding an extra lock here and there will serve to create a safer environment for everyone, not only those that live in the house, but all those who enter as well. In addition, there is another, less commonly known, incentive to safety proof your house. Insurance companies present discounts to those houses equipped with not only home security systems, but fire safety protection as well. This is because these houses are at a lower risk for claims, so the insurance company offers these profiles a break.

In conclusion, although your Golden Retriever might make a good watchdog, all the facts suggest outfitting your home with a more advanced, less furry, security system will prove most effective in the end.
