Actress and animal lover Betty White has supported animal health research that has improved veterinary medicine for companion animals and wildlife for nearly 40 years.

Not only has Betty served as a trustee梥ince 1971梐nd president emeritus for Morris Animal Foundation, but her sponsorship of nearly 30 animal health studies has led to:

* Major clinical breakthroughs in pain management for dogs, cats and horses, including evaluations of fentanyl, morphine and nerve blocks

* New information into the genetic mutations that cause bone cancer

* Validation of ultrasound as a way to manage canine congestive heart failure

* Disease transmission information that led to increased legal protections for endangered California sea otters

Currently, she is sponsoring studies that are looking at:

* Blood clot prevention in cats with heart disease

* Risk factors and prevalence of leptospirosis in dogs

* Disease transmission factors for rickettsial disease in cats

* Pain management studies

* Sea otter health studies

Morris Animal Foundation recently honored Betty at an exclusive luncheon event, sponsored by P&G Pet Care North America. The event took place at the Four Seasons Las Vegas in conjunction with the Western Veterinary Conference and honored Betty's support and commitment to the veterinary industry and to animal health and welfare research.
