Large Storage Bins: The Life Saver

Those who move their residences a lot know that large storage bins can be very convenient. The ones that you can actually see through are most helpful. It makes packing and unpacking easier to do.

The more moving experiences you have, the more you learn about storage containers. The smaller ones can carry the heavier items, because they do not carry as much. Like a small box would be best for books, where a very large box would not.

When you have a huge container, you would not want to haul it around carrying items that make it weigh a lot. Therefore, the contents should be light, so that if you stack them to the top of the bin, you can still lift it comfortably.

When you are storing items that you will not need for a while in the attic, or in a closet, it is great to have storage bins that you can see through. These would be the clear plastic ones. It is very annoying to have corrugated boxes stacked in the attic. Unless you have clearly labeled them, you cannot possibly always remember what is inside. And even if they are labeled, when you are looking for something in them, it is inevitable that you will stack them again without the label facing outward.

The type of bins that have a cover are, of course, better for storage. The cover will keep the dust and spiders out, as well as most of the moisture. They should fit snugly and snap on to be sure that your items inside are safe.

If your container stack comfortably on top of each other, this is another plus. Some containers actually lock into place while stacked, making it difficult to knock over the stack. You can stack them in an organized manner in your attic, according to the contents, or in various closets in the home.

Some of the lighter weighing items to consider for storage in these larger bins are blankets, sheets, and comforters. You may have several sets of these for the summer and several for the winter. And you can keep the appropriate seasonal bin convenient for your use, as you need new sheets and blankets. Clothing is also relatively lightweight. Each family member might benefit from having their own bins for their own clothing. If they each have a summer clothing container, they can make it their winter clothing container when the summer comes along, and vice versa. Or it may be a good idea to store all of the winter coats in one large bin.

You may even consider lightweight toys and some seasonal items to be stored in them for safe keeping. This could include holiday items, as well as summer or winter towels, silk flowers, and knick-knacks. As you begin to organize, you will find many other uses for your large storage bins. And since they are strong, they will protect your stuff for years to come. They are also inexpensive, so you can purchase quite a few. Since they are stackable, they will never be in the way or inconvenient, or take up too much space. And they are also easy to find at various outlet stores and discount stores. You can sometimes even find a bargain at a garage sale.
