Trojan Horse - Disambiguation

A Trojan horse(disambiguation), is a term used to describe malware that appears to the user, which carries out malicious operations without the users knowledge. A Trojan (computing) is a hidden program which secretly runs commands, and usually opens up access to the computer running it by opening a backdoor. hence, sometimes it is also called a Trojan by analogy to the citizens of Troy.

Purpose of Trojan horses:

Trojan horses are designed to allow a hacker remote access to a target computer system. Once a Trojan horse has been installed on a target computer system it is possible for a hacker to access it remotely and perform operations
Operations which could be performed by a hacker on a target computer system include:

- Data Theft (e.g. passwords, security codes, credit card information).
- Uploading of files.
- Viewing the user's screen.
- The Trojan horse was an executable file named "ie0199.exe" and was provided as an e-mail attachment.

Installation:

By websites containing executable contents. e.g. e-mail attachments.
software downloads. e.g. file sharing through networks.

Removal:

Method:1 (AUTO)
By installing antivirus softwares viz., AVG, NORTON, P-CILIN.(Detects 2 Trojans: downloader.lamedon.B and downloader.delf.2.AO) and deletes automatically.

Method:2 (MANUALLY)

Usually it appears in a file called dl.html and mstasks3.exe which locates in the WINDOWS folders, delete these files out of WINDOWS. If it reappears once again it can be removed easily just by right clicking on the file select cut and then paste the file in c: then delete the file in c: and empty trash bin.

Simply open WordPad and write the following text if u want you can just write whatever you want but i write this "i hate illegal Trojan horses" after that save the document as dl.html on the desktop after that cut the file and paste it to c:windows and when it asks you to replace the infected dl.html just do it. now right click on it and click on properties and now click on write protected and then OK now the file is write protected and the virus cant write a new dl.html. It will be safe to empty your Recycle Bin in the Normal mode.

Conclusion:

A Trojan horse is not necessarily a virus, as its goal is not to reproduce itself to infect other systems. On the other hand, some viruses may also be Trojan horses i.e., they might spread like viruses and open ports on infected systems.
