Breed Description

He is a small, workman like dog of square, sturdy build who resembles the wire fox terrier. He generally likes everyone he meets and can distinguish friends from strangers. An enthusiastic breed he enjoys playing with adults or children and has a way of getting his own way making him an entertaining pet. He is related to the Border, Bedlington and Dandie Dinmont Terrier. Developed over a long period of time to be a digging, hunting dog. The Lakeland Terrier was used to hunt vermin in the rugged shale mountains of the Lake District of northern England.
