Cat Training And You

27 12:14:51
By nature Cats are extremely sovereign and it is difficult to make them follow some instructions as they do not show any enthusiasm towards that. This makes cat training difficult if not impossible. You might feel that your cat is too stubborn and independent to change its behavior but if you train her with right strategies and follow through with rewards and punishments, it can be accomplished.

A cat is a very smart pet, but they do not understand why people do some things. It is difficult for a cat to understand you correcting their bad behavior if there is a delay from the action to the correction. The cat just doesn't understand what they did wrong or why you are correcting them. So time your actions directly to the cat's bad behavior for better results.

A great technique to incorporate into your cat or kitten training is to encourage opposite behavior. Because cats are typically more affected by favorable reinforcement rather than punishment, this technique is usually successful. For example, if your cat is playfully clawing the fabric of your favorite chair, redirect your cat's behavior to a toy.

Cats can be trained, though "cat training" is often jokingly considered self-contradictory. The best way to train your cat is with rewards after a good performance; favorite cat treats are good. Remember to reward your cat whenever it exhibits the behavior you want. Rewards need not be material; an occasional hug or simply sitting down for a session of petting and grooming is also good.

It is extremely important to remember that even though you may become frustrated when it seems that your cat is ignoring your commands, you must never react with violence. This type of punishment does not help your cat training sessions, and will cause fear and additional strain in your relationship with your pet. Violent punishment is cruel. On the other hand, positive reinforcement will help you achieve your goals.

Using the correct approach and positive behavior incentives are the best way to accomplish the challenging task of trying to train a cat. Cats respond best to positive reinforcements and do not respond well to violence, which should be avoided.
