Pets are wonderful things. For most of us, they become a member of our family, an indispensable one. If you are a pet owner or thinking of becoming one, here are some helpful hints you might want to know.

1. Dog Urine in Carpet If your dog can't hold it anymore, don't get to angry. You can get the urine out without much problem. Mix sudsy water with lemon juice and blot the carpet

2. Feeding Cats Lobster If you are munching on lobster, don't give it to your cat. Lobster with butter on it can block up their intestines.

3. Dry Dog Wash If you don't have time to give your dog a bath and they smell bad, you can give them a rub down with baking soda to take the edge off.

4. Pets Marking Territory If your pet urinates in the house, clean it up right away. Make sure to get the smell out or your pet will come back and do it again to mark its territory.

5. Giving Aspirin to Cats Aspirin is a wonder drug, but don't give it to cats. They react really poorly to it and it can even kill them.

6. Skunk Odors on Dogs Inquisitive dogs often pay the price with skunks. To get skunk smell off, wash your dog with tomato juice. Then wash them with regular shampoo and rinse. You might have to do it twice.

7. Careful When Picking Names Picking a name for a pet is good fun, but you need to be careful. A human name can be embarrassing when someone comes over that has the same one.

8. Exotic Pet Problems It may seem like a good idea to get a unique pet, but be warned. They have unique needs and you may be surprised how much maintenance there is.

9. One Pet or Two If you don't have kids, you need to give some thought to getting a pet. Won't it be bored all day when you are at work? You might want to get two so they can keep each other company.

10. Pets Pulling Skateboards Dogs inevitably end up as sled dogs if your kids have skateboards. You should know the leash is strangling them. Get a brace that goes around their chest instead.

Ultimately, owning a pet almost always works out for the best. The only time there are problems is if you don't understand your pet or fail to take care of it. If you want to play with your pet during the day, don't by one that is naturally active at night!
