Problem Of The World : Is Adhd Over Diagnosed

Have you ever been in the grocery store and heard a child's voice screaming and yelling way across from the other side of the store as if someone is physically harming them or just running wild throughout the store? Well, I have and on several different occasions. Eventually I learn they are simply throwing a temper tantrum act because they are being told they cannot have something they want.

The saddest part is when I see the parent(s) so frustrated and humiliated they allow the child to get their way. Back in the day we diagnosed that behavior as being over spoiled. This day and age everything and everyone is moving fast-paced and hardly anyone has patience. Along with that factor parent(s) are out working more than one job and there is no time for discipline. When they do take the time to recognize there is no stopping their child's out of control behavior they practically go running to the doctor's office to seek immediate help. The doctor is informed about the abnormal behaviors and most likely diagnoses the child with ADHD.

Not realizing or wanting to take the time to realize that maybe the child knows no different but to bounce off walls and act out because they really aren't getting enough attention at home or it is what they are use to and this type of behavior has always helped him or her get their way. By the time the parents are informed that their child has a diagnosis for their behavior they are almost glorified because they are not feeling the blame as being considered bad parents.

Now that the parents have their quick diagnosis from the doctor and the doctor has prescribed his quick fix of Ritalin for the child, the doctor has his quick check and ready for the next child who may simply be over spoiled. After all a spoiled child likes allot of "Attention" and will "Demand" to get his or her way. If a spoiled child recognizes he or she is not getting his or her way they may become very over dramatic with very "Hyperactive", and "Deranged" behaviors. I do believe that there are children out there who really do have ADHD, but I also believe ADHD can easily be over diagnosed. Check out the first letter to each word I put in parenthesis and you to may see the same.
