Five Things To Ask Before Buying Pet Insurance For Your Animal!

Deciding to get pet insurance or at least find out more information is the first important step in educating yourself about what is available and the different things you should consider before enrolling your pet into an insurance policy. However, it's also important to know WHAT things to ask the pet insurance provider. If you have never had pet insurance before, you might not know all the right questions to ask when looking for the perfect dog insurance or cat insurance provider. How can you ask the "right" questions if you have no idea what the right questions are?!? Here are a few questions you should find out about either by asking them or looking online for more information:

- Are you limited to a network of vets or do you pre-certify for vet care? How often do they update their network? How many are included? Can you have a guide book of available locations? Is there a vet located near you? I'll be honest, I had Ameriplan for a while for MY own health insurance and they said they had a network of Doctors. I thought okay cool that means I will always have someone to go to! And yet, every single time I was in search of a specialist, an eye care doctor or a dentist there either wasn't anyone in that category or they were 500 miles away! That doesn't exactly help me. So this is definitely an essential factor you want to find out about.

- How do they deal with pre-existing conditions? Do they offer insurance for a pet with a pre-complications? If so, what are the stipulations?

- Are you offered annual policies with clear renewal terms? Policies usually have a one term rate which means your pet will be guaranteed for one full year. Like most insurance for humans, the premiums will either increase or disease depending on age, number of files claimed and conditions.

- As with ANY insurance, you want and need to make sure that they have a stability and proven success with their insurance. How long have they been around? What kind of statistics can they offer to you when it comes to your pet? The longer a company is around, the longer they will be able to insure your pet!

- What types of packages do they have available? What are the prices? If they can't answer your questions, put you on hold for an exceedingly long time, or they are rude chances are this company won't be the best one for you. Questions are important, but so are manners and professionalism as well! While these are just companies and not vets that will actually be working ON your animals, but it's still important that they can answer all your questions and console all of your concerns.

You should also notice that there are insurance alternatives available on the market. I'm currently registered with a pet insurance company that provides with a 25% discount card for my vet, no questions asked, no annoying paperwork, no conditions or health check, and very low price.
