Spa Treatment For Your Horse - Doesn't Your Horse Deserve It?

2016/5/4 10:29:27

The life of a horse can be a little rough at times and, as much as you love the animal, it can be hard to thank her. Sometimes that little treat just seems so inadequate. You groom her, make sure she has the best feed you can find, let her out to pasture, and spend as much time with her as you can. All the same, you wish you could do more. Why not give her the spa treatment for a day?

Keeping a horse is an expensive job and there is simply no way around it. Bringing in a expert in horse pampering will only be another (and sizable) expense. But fortunately, with a little work, any luxury your horse might experience at the hands of another can be achieved by you, with a significant drop in cost.

You will first need to take a trip to the feed store and pick up the very finest horse shampoo you can get your hands on. It will not be cheap, but remember that your horse deserves it. While you are there, see if you can find a bit of the highest quality feed in the land.

Start by giving your horse the finest and most luxurious bath she has ever experienced. Certainly, many horses are not entirely fond of being bathed, but take your time and make her as comfortable as possible. Using the softest hand and the kindest words, your horse will likely calm down and begin to enjoy the bath.

You may consider enlisting the help of someone experienced in giving horses massages. If you are not familiar with any such people, your veterinarian may know of one in the area. Failing that, you can find many excellent books on the subject. Finding an equine chiropractor may also be a reasonable substitute. In either case, your horse will finish the day feeling better and more limber than she has likely felt in a long time.

Give her the feed at the end of it all and maybe a healthy treat or two. You may consider letting her out to graze and run around to enjoy all the rewards of that massage or chiropractic adjustment. Hopefully she will feel like she is years younger.

If your horse is used in any sort of competition, the spa treatment may be the perfect reward for a job well done. Even if you did not win your event, remember that a horse goes through quite a lot for you and always deserves a reward. The spa treatment can become a regular luxury if your pocket book will allow it, but remember that such things as massage and chiropractic adjustment are not permanent.

If you continue to ride your horse, the same muscles will likely knot up or the same joints will again drop out of alignment. The best thing you might do for your horse is to become yourself proficient in massage. Your horse will certainly thank you at the end of it all.

Do you know that the first horse was called Hyracotherium? It lived about 50 million years ago and was only as tall as a fox. To learn more about horses, including horse health and training & horse supplies, visit us at PetCustomer.com.
