Beware of Doberman biting. It can destroy not only you but also your dog. Find out the causes of Doberman biting.

Doberman biting is not a good behavior to be tolerated. It is always a problem even if some would think its cute. This behavior although natural among Doberman has causes that must be addressed in order for us to correct and avoid them from this destructive behavior.

Below are the top four causes of Doberman biting:

Doberman Biting Cause One: Insecurity.

Doberman biting is a natural reaction for Doberman to protect themselves whenever they have enemies. They can get fierce and would show their dominance to their opponent through their big sharp scissor-like teeth. In fact they are breed for that purpose. That is the reason why they have unpredictable aggressive behaviors that tends to bite any stranger or even their own owners.

However, an owner can possess the full position of an Alpha dog by showing to the Doberman that he is in charge of everything and that he will give him the security and protection from any dangers. This way, less biting behaviors will occur.

Doberman Biting Cause Two: They think they are the boss.

It is very common to pack animals to recognize the pack order. The pack order is their innate leadership system where there is a leader who takes the position as the Alpha dog and members who belong to the pack are loyal followers. In this case, when they feel that no one in the household is establishing the position of an Alpha dog, then instantly they will volunteer themselves and act as if they are the boss. So, Doberman biting tends to show that they have dominance and gives a message that he has power over you. Well, this is not the proper setting. It should be the other way around. Pets are always the followers and the owners are always the boss.

To correct the Doberman biting behavior, be consistent and firm with what you want by not tolerating your Doberman biting. Always be firm with the loud and audible word "No", but do not hit him in any way. Whenever he attempts to bite something, correct him immediately by showing him that you are not pleased with what he is doing. Do not cuddle him when you say No. Make a pause and get his attention and make sure he listens to you when you say NO in a firm tone.

Doberman Biting Cause Three: Environment.

Another reason for doberman biting is the condition of the environment of your Doberman. There are two kinds of environment that I am emphasizing here. The physical and social environment of your Doberman. First is the physical environment. It is usual for Doberman to bite their tails or any part of their body maybe because they feel extreme itchiness. These itch may usually stem from bacteria or fleas due to unclean surroundings where they usually stay. In that case, proper sanitation and proper hygiene should go together. As much as possible, give him bath and dry shampoo his coat. Clip his nails regularly and brush his teeth.

Also, a regular cleaning of the place where he usually sleeps or eats is a must to avoid those bacteria to harm your Doberman. Then, for the social environment, never tolerate your Doberman from biting by engaging him into activities that encourages biting. Activities like playing tug of war and wrestling are two of the most common examples of play that must be avoided. In addition, it is essential that you let your Doberman socialize with other pets and other members of your family at an early age so that they can make friends and will not get upset with strangers. The more friends he has, the more secure and happy he can become.

Doberman Biting Cause Four: Health Issues.

This can be the least cause to check immediately. There are numerous cases that prove the biting problems among Doberman is through their health issues. They might be suffering from an illness which causes them to develop biting. They maybe are infested with parasites and infections. Common infections that lead to the biting symptoms are parvo virus and rabies. With these cases, a medical attention must be done immediately and properly.

Always let a veterinarian check the health of your Doberman. Follow the balance and healthy diet for your Doberman. Give them dog food and avoid crumbs or left overs.

Never let Doberman biting ruin your dog's life as well as yours. By following the above tips, you will be able to live a harmonious relationship with your best friend.
