Dogs are one of a kind pets as they have made great contributions to the betterment of people’s lives. It is not surprising if dog owners would ensure the health and the happiness of the pet. Regular grooming is one of the basic requirements that must be given to the dog to ensure its wellbeing. Although dog owners are aware of the need to groom the pet regularly, some are prevented from doing the chore because of busy schedules. Busy dog owners that have taken one of the high maintenance breeds for a pet would be burdened by the need to groom the pet daily. Knowing that grooming sessions would be treasured bonding moments with the pet, the owner would do the task himself if he has the time but tight schedules will force a dog owner to take the pet to professional groomers that can do the job more capably. A dog owner though can’t help but wonder – is the groomer is really skilled?

The difficulty in choosing the right groomer is not unlike choosing the right hairdresser. Dog owners, especially ones that consider the pet as their baby would be choosy in selecting a groomer. Not many dog owners would relinquish the care of the pet just to anyone. The fad of keeping well groomed dogs had resulted to the mushrooming of grooming salons but oftentimes the owner would be dissatisfied with the price and the work done on the dog .

Choosing a dedicated groomer that would accomplish the task efficiently is difficult but it can be done. Dog owners can always ask around as dog lovers have the tendency to group together. Relatives and friends can recommend a dog groomer. Word of mouth is the best advertisement any dog groomer can have as one that does a slapdash job will not be recommended.

Visiting the grooming service is very important as the dog owner would get the chance to see the grooming area and to take note of the tools and the supplies that will be used to groom the dog. It is also important to know the credentials of the groomer. A groomer is expected to be skilled if he/she has undergone formal training and a member of any grooming organization.

As they say experience is the best teacher. The work of a groomer who is on an on the job training is expected not to be at par with the work of a groomer that has been doing the job for years.

A happy and a healthy dog is a well groomed dog. A dog owner has to take time to choose a right groomer for the pet as the groomer will be his partner in ensuring that the dog remains happy and healthy.
