2 Home Remedies Kill Fleas Easily

There definitely are some home remedies that will kill fleas easily and inexpensively. I am going to share 2 home remedies that you can use to kill fleas easily now.

Table Salt: Yes, table salt kills fleas and is a very easy home remedy. Simply have a container of table salt, this can usually be purchased 2 for a $1 in your supermarket, make sure you have enough for all of your carpeted areas in your home. You will need to sprinkle liberally on your carpets.

Step 1: Sprinkle the table salt liberally on all of your carpeted areas. You want enough to put a single layer over the top of your carpets. Make sure to get under furniture as well if it is on the carpeted areas.

Step 2: Take a broom and rub the salt into the fibers of your carpet. Don't overly stress but the better you rub it into the carpet the more flea eggs, larva and pupa stages will be effected by the salt. You are going to leave this on your carpets for at least 24 hours. This is not harmful on your pets so they can be in the rooms that have been treated.

Step 3: After the salt has been on your carpet for at least 24 hours or more, you are going to vacuum your carpets thoroughly. The salt kills the adult fleas and their life stages, egg, pupa and larvae stages by sucking the moisture right out of them causing them to dehydrate.

The vacuuming is extremely important because you are picking up any of the dead fleas and their life stages. Be sure to get under the furniture and all of the nooks and crannies of your floors, baseboards and moulding where the carpet meets with it. After you are done throw the vacuum bag in the garbage and put the garbage outside. If you have a bag less, wash it very well with warm soapy water.

Repeat this as needed until your flea problem is under control. Make sure to continue vacuuming everyday to get any stray fleas out of your home. You can put a flea collar, (any kind), into the vacuum bag or canister, this kills the fleas when vacuuming.

Home-Made Flea Trap: Along with the table salt a home-made flea trap will work great for your flea control. This is very simple and non-toxic to you and your pets.

Step 1: You will need a shallow pan, a 9x13 cake pan is perfect. You will also need water and dish soap. You will also need a night light or any other light that can be placed on the floor next to the pan of water overnight without being knocked over.

Fill the pan halfway with warm water. Next your going to put 4-5 squirts of the dish soap into the pan, do not mix the soap and water together, we don't want sudsy water.

Step 2: Place the pan of water on the floor in the most infested flea area of your home, where the light will be next to. Night lights are ideal for this home remedy because the pan sits below it and you don't have to worry about the light falling into the water. If you have more than one area you want treated, just make a few traps and place throughout your home.

Step 3: Leave the pan overnight for the fleas to get into.

Step 4: In the morning the fleas will be in the pan, dead from drowning. They jump toward the light for warmth and fall into the water, the dish soap that's squirted into the water pulls them down to drown. Simply rinse the pan out and do again if needed.

When using these two home remedies to kill fleas in your home together, you will see a significant difference in your flea population. You may want to treat your pets and outside of your home for fleas as well to get your problem completely under control.
