Maltese Stuffed Animals

Just about every child wishes for a puppy at some point in their young lives. Some are lucky enough to have their wish come true while others never get to experience what it's like to have a dog while growing up. For those that don't get to have a puppy, there are any number of plush dog toys on the market to satisfy a child's burning desire for the real thing. Maltese stuffed animals are one of the many plush dog breeds that a child can choose from. Some Maltese stuffed animals, like those found in online stores, are so lifelike, you may not be able to tell the difference between it and the real breed.

There are conflicting accounts of the Maltese's precise place of origin. Most believe that a pure-breeding line was first established on the island of Malta, while others think of Sicily as its home. All are agreed, however, that the breed type is centuries old, and royal portraits which include lap-dogs suggest that its appearance has not changed much over the years. The Maltese has never had to work for its living, but was kept as a companion dog by the European nobility. The first specimens arrived in Britain during the rein of Henry VIII, and it enjoyed consistent popularity until the introduction of the Eastern toy breeds at the end of the 19th century. Although eclipsed by these, the Maltese has never been in danger of disappearing and today it is well known in American and Britain.

Maltese's are an affectionate and lively little dog which provides its owner with loyal companionship. The same can be said about Maltese stuffed animals, though the 'lively' characteristic will have to remain within its owners vivid imagination. For a child that can only dream about having a Maltese, Maltese stuffed animals will provide years of endless entertainment and friendship. It's hard to ask for anything more from a plush toy.

The Maltese's fur coat is white, straight, and long and silky. Ideally, its long coat needs to be groomed carefully everyday and washed frequently. Maltese stuffed animals sport the same white, long coat which can also be brushed on a daily basis if its owner chooses to do so. A small amount of exercise is also required for the Maltese breed although he or she should not be taken out in severe cold or heavy rain. Extreme cold for Maltese stuffed animals won't be a problem, but allowing its beautiful silky coat to get wet would not be recommended, even at the best of times. You should do whatever it takes to keep a Maltese stuffed animals coat as dry as possible. And last but not least, like with the Maltese breed, Maltese stuffed animals require loads of love and attention the more you give, the more you will get back in return.
