Chihuahua Plush

The beauty of owning stuffed animals is that they don't require the same kind of care a real animal does. In addition, for anyone that suffers from allergies, a stuffed animal of their favorite pet is really the next best thing to owning a real dog or cat. Dogs have always been very popular stuffed toys as is evident with the number of plush breeds now available. Chihuahua plush are one of the dog breeds that can be found amongst the vast array of doggie plush toys on the market.

Although named after a Mexican city and strongly associated with South America, there is disagreement about the Chihuahua's exact origin, though most say it was by the Aztecs or Incas. Pottery dog figurines found in Mexico certainly show dogs of this type. One theory is that the these dogs lived wild in the Mexican mountains. Whatever its origin, it still maintains several unique characteristics including some members of the breed weighing in under two pounds, making them the smallest dogs in the world. Similarly, chihuahua plush are designed with the breed in mind they are tiny stuffed animals, perfect for little hands to hold and hug. Online stores have an exquisite 15 inch tall Chihuahua plush that looks so real, you won't be able to tell the difference from a distance. Despite its size compared to other Chihuahua plush, this particular stuffed animal is a real find and any child would be lucky to call it their own.

The first Chihuahua specimens reached America in the late 19th century and these are the ancestors of almost all Chihuahuas here, and in Europe today. They are a good companion that loves attention but don't do well in homes where young children are present. They have been known to snap at children and will typically bite when frightened. Given their small size, they need to be handled delicately, and a young child wouldn't have the experience or maturity to do so. This is not to say, however, that chihuahua's are not good with children; due in part to its size, chihuahua's are often treated differently than a larger breed of dog thus it can make them become untrustworthy. This is yet another reason that Chihuahua plush are a perfect substitute for the real thing, particularly for a young child. While they can learn to care for Chihuahua plush in such a way that it mimics the real thing, perhaps when they are old enough, the real thing could very well become a possibility.

The Chihuahua breed is sometimes known to be a 'yappy' dog which, like with any breed of dog, can often be corrected with training. But, with Chihuahua plush, the negatives of having a dog that constantly barks, simply becomes a concern that is non-existent. All the advantages of owning a real dog don't disappear entirely with Chihuahua plush; they require just as much love and attention as the real thing.
