Great Companions

Once you are "owned" by a ragdoll, it's hard to imagine owning any other type of cat. These gentle giants are warm, loving, affectionate, and people oriented. They crave attention and devote themselves to their humans. The name ragdoll refers to their willingness to completely trust their owners and relax completely when in the arms of their best friend. They do not like being alone. If you work outside the home or out of the house for several hours during the day, consider obtaining two from the same litter to keep each other company. My two are brothers and they are very close. It is so cute to see them play together and clean each other. They've also adapted well to my other cats, Bengals and Girl, a female rescue cat. Ragdoll kittens do like to play and will continue to do so as adults, but at a more leisurely pace.If you are looking for a high energy cat who likes to climb, jump and run, another breed like the Bengal or Siamese would be a better choice. The positive side of this mellow breed is they are less likely to be destructive, clawing the furniture and knocking over lamps and vases.

Ragdolls are moderately sized and come in four patterns: bicolor, pointed, mitted (pointed with white feet), and van (two spots of color over the ears). There are six basic colors: blue, seal, chocolate, cream, lilac and red. In addition, lynx and torties are also available. As a ragdoll kitten matures, his coloring will become more vivid and intense. All ragdolls have blue eyes regardless of pattern or color. Female ragdolls generally weigh between 13 and 15 pounds and the males between 15 and 18 pounds. Neutered males can sometime exceed 20 pounds. Ragdolls are slow to mature and reach their full coat color in approximately two years and their full size and weight in four years. They have soft voices and are easily trainable. Ragdolls have medium length silky hair, but shed minimally. They have sometimes been referred to as "no shed" cats, but any animal with fur will shed at least a little. A weekly combing and brushing will help keep them looking their best..

Ragdolls are indoor cats and most conscientious breeders will require you to sign an agreement to this.
