The border wire for your underground dog fence should make a complete loop, initiating and terminating at the transmitter unit. As the loop breaks from any point, signals cannot get through and the meter stops working.
There are two ways of finding the break, we start with the easiest Invisible Pet Fence Repair:
Finding a Crack by Visual Check
Most cracks are caused by someone running an aerator or edger or digging through the boundary wire. These breaks can generally be found by walking along where the edge wire runs and looking for sites where there has been recent digging. Plug out the wire and look for the damage.
RF Choke Method
RF Choke make your boundary wire 'sing.' the sound could be heard with AM radio tuned to 600 and find the break by looking for the part of the wire which is not singing.
First switch off the transmitter box, now turn the transmitter box back off and now turn on the radio tuned to AM 600, and walk all along the boundary wire. As you hold the radio near the boundary wire it must make a throbbing/ deep pulsing noise. While you move the radio closer and away from the boundary wire you perceive that there are some distances where the sound is louder.
Fixing the Crack
Use scissors to strip the wire on every side of the break in the border wire. Place in two stripped sections into the wire nut and smoothly twist until you start to get a bit of struggle from the wire nut. Test it for checking whether or not the problem has been resolved.
If there is no error signal, conceal the boundary wire underground. Rearrange the "field width" knob on the transmitter box to its original surroundings. Well done that you just rendered underground dog fence repair and saved yourself from the local Underground Dog Fence agency and a large payment receipt!
