Having pets at home is undoubtedly a very enjoyable and fun thing. They give us a convenient feeling of not being alone. Our pets can even be our best friends especially if we are living by ourselves. There are numerous kinds of animals that we can choose from with regards to having a pet at home and I have listed five of the best choices.

1. Dogs - Dogs are the first types of animals that come in to one's mind whenever they hear the word "pets" and are always on top of every person's pet list. Dogs are very adorable and tender animals. These are also some of the main reasons why they are called "man's best friend". They do not only give us with amusement and happiness, but also security most especially in our houses. Certain breeds of dogs guard our front door, gardens or even the inside of our houses.
2. Cats - The notorious enemy of dogs. Having a cat at home is also an exciting factor. One reason is cats really love to have fun and play around. They also like to be cuddled. They also have their own way of communicating with their owners. By meowing and purring, they can easily tell you what they want. Other things that they do are pawing you leg or any part of your body. All of these things show how they value and love their masters.
3. Hamsters - These cute and adorable hamsters are also included in the list. These very cuddly animals are most adored especially children because of their character of being tiny. Their elegant appearance, various breeds and different colors make them the most popular and chosen little pet everywhere.
4. Guinea Pigs - Guinea pigs have quite a resemblance to hamsters however, they are bigger in size. They are very cuddly and cute. They also have different kinds of breeds and colors. Guinea Pigs love to socialize with humans. We should consider keeping a same-sex pair to give them companionship. Two females are the most advised, though a pair of males could also work out.
5. Birds - Last on the list are our flying friends. Birds are one of the manageable pets because they can be placed inside cages and do not need long walks in the park or any daily activities.

Having pets do not only give us with fun and enjoyment because we can learn many things form them too. They teach us how to be responsible enough upon managing and taking care of them in order for them to live longer and happier. Though there could be some possibilities for some unavoidable incidents to happen, there are still a lot of precautionary steps that we could do like having them insured in an insurance to secure their health.
