Give Your Pet A Step Up

When it comes to your pet, you always need to be one step ahead when possible. You have come to love your pet and want to do what ever you can to keep your pet happy and healthy. Have you noticed that your pet is not moving as fast or having a harder time getting up after they have laided down for their nap. That could be signs of getting older or could be a sign of health conditions, such as dog arthritis.

A pet step or stairs, would be a great gift to give your pet. If you have a small pet that has a hard time jumping up on the couch or the bed, a step will solve that problem. If you have a large pet or one that is over weight, a step will make it easy for your pet to get to their favorite spot, like the couch or your bed.

If you are looking to get a step for your pet, there are some things you need to take in to consideration. First of all, it is very important to look at the rise of the each step. The normal rise of a step or stair is 6 1/2 to 7 1/2 inches high and that is what the rise of your pet step should be. The next thing you need to look at is the depth of each step. It should be between 10 and 12 inches. Pets like deep steps for easy maneuverability. That puts the step the same size as the one you use every day in your house. Your pet has become used to the stairs in your house, so don't change it or they may not use the step.

There are different kinds of steps. You can get ones that have two, three or four steps. It all depends on you and your pet as to which one will work best.

For you cat lovers, keep in mind that your cat will hide the early stages of their physical decline. If you notice that your cat is not as active as he or she used to, it is time for some help. A step will also help prevent injury to your cat from falling. That would only mean a trip to the vet for you and your pet.

For the dog lovers out there, if you have just got a new puppy, start them with a step as soon as possible. The benefit of starting your pup on steps when they are still young is to reduce neck, back and leg injuries. Those injuries are common in smaller pets when jumping down from a bed or sofa. We do not want to take any chances of your pet getting hurt.

When it comes to a step for your pet, either a cat or dog, look at your pets size, age and health. Also look at the rise and depth of the step. Your pet will thank you for getting the right one.
