Dog As Painkiler

Until recently I had the honor to have for my friend and take care of one female Pekingese dog. That friendship lasted for thirteen years. It is hard to describe the feeling of loss of someone who was so close. To describe a loss of someone who is part of your life that long, someone who was a dear friend always there to share the joy with you and always there to cheer you up, when you are sad. Every moment spent with this dog was pure happiness and pleasure. The experience that I took from that relationship, cannot be measured with any experience I had throughout my life before. Now those days are gone and I realize even more, how was important the moment, when we first meet, of whom I have already written in article “Can Dogs Cry”. It really was the beginning of a beautiful friendship for eternal remembrance.

So much for the reminder of the sad feelings and a strong sense of loss about where I could write much more than I wrote now, but it's not the topic of this article. Theme is definitely much cheerful. The theme of this article among other, is my memory of beautiful moments and the love which was always returned by my beloved pet, my sweet, female Pekingese dog Mini. Many times I got it back.

This is actually a story about one event which I remember where I was witness that one dog is able to heal physical pain to us. It happens to all of us, that sometimes we are not of good will, that we are not in the mood or something is troubling us. Sometimes it's just in our heads and sometimes it is really a physical pain.

Once it happened that one female member of my family have a strong stomach ache. She drank a painkiller and was lying in bed trying to calm down, hoping to stop the pain. She lay there for a while but the pain is not reduced. The Pekingese dog Mini, was lying nearby and did not look as if she realizes what’s going on, however suddenly she jumped on a bed, turned several times on its axis and lay exactly on a stomach sore spot. We looked at her like a miracle and she looked so calm and peaceful lying there, like that is her place where she normally resides. I heard long ago somewhere that cats use to do that, but I never heard such a thing for dogs. After a while I heard the sigh of relief and heard that the pain is almost completely disappeared. We could not believe and we were delighted with sudden healing.

Later when we talked about the incredible healing, we discussed what really happened and how it’s possible that our little sweetheart made the pain disappear. Is that was the heat of her body, her peace of mind, which she spread around her or something else I don’t know. Either way we wanted to believe that it was her ability. After I little joked and called her a “Healing Dog”.
