Training For A Puppy

All puppies have their own personality to them and always wear that cute, innocent face. Everyone practically wants to snuggle and play with their puppy all day. However, there are times when unexpected situations come up. For example, like the day when you came home from work. A few of your shoes were on the floor, lying tattered and broken. Your oh-so-cute pup was beside the shoes, wagging his tail and at the time, was so happy to see you. Luckily you were not the type to throw a tantrum. Training for puppy breeds like Pit-bulls or Doberman should be taken with caution as some of these dogs can be dangerous if they have never been trained before.

In events like the one we just described, it is a good idea to always stay calm. Any shouting could give the puppy a wrong impression. It could either be extremely negative because in the puppy抯 eyes, he may think you are praising him. Instead, ignore your dog with no eye contact and replace the mess with another item. Take away the shoes and offer him a chew toy.

One chew toy that dogs love is a typical bone from the pet shop. These are great for carrying around and will also prevent the puppy from using any of your items. You can also make home-made chew toys. All you need is a clean sock and some ice cubes. Put these together with the ice inside of the sock, and then tie it together at the end. Now your pup can chew on something crunchy without ruining their teeth. We suggest letting them play for 10 minutes and no longer than this because your pet could easily tear the material and end up choking.

Training a puppy should also involve commands like teaching them how to sit, and even roll over. If you are unsure on how to begin training a dog, you should pick up some instructional books at the library. They will give you step by step directions on how to train your puppy. If you do not have the time for training a dog, it is recommended that you hire a trainer that can achieve results for you. Before you know it, your dog will know basic commands just from enrolling in obedience school.

Training For A Puppy ?The Sit Command

1. The easiest step of training a puppy to sit is the first command. Whenever you see your puppy sit down on their own, say the world 搒it? What you are doing here is teaching your pup this word. It associates it with the action. Now, when you use the word 搒it?on its own, the puppy will remember this from your previous steps.
2. Take some of his favorite treats (assuming it抯 a male dog) and keep them in your hand, away from your dog. Of course, he already knows you have them. Sit down beside your dog on the floor, and then dangle one treat above his head. Before actually lowering it, watch to see the dog sit back on its hind legs. As an instinct, the puppy will sit down because it is much easier and if he doesn抰 ?you can gently push on the very low area of his spine to encourage him to sit. Once he sits down, give him the treat as a reward.
3. The trick is to say 揝it?once he sits down on the floor. The timing must be exact so this will be the same time you give him the treat. This is very important or it will not work.
