     Cats are lovable and cuddly. But, they can also become aggressive animals. There are a few reasons why they exhibit such behavior and there are also things that you can do to cope with such display by your cat.

These animals are predatory and they can prey on birds, rats, and a few more animals that are, generally, smaller than them. Although we cannot erase this behavior in them, as responsible owners, we still need to make sure that we control their aggressive behavior and prevent our kids, family members and neighbors from becoming injured as a result of this behavior.

Also, you can notice such behavior when your cats are playing with one another. Then, there are some cats that have not been with each other for an amount of time that will make them feel comfortable and trust each other. Such situation causes them to seem like to be on edge and thus, become aggressive.

When you have started to care for your cat when they are still kittens, you will have the opportunity to start training them early. Cats that have been domesticated early on are generally less aggressive than those cats that have been, for example, left to grow up on the streets.

Aggressive cats can show potentially hazardous acts and behaviors when they are playing. These cats stalk and sometimes attack when they have been left in a too playful mood. In order to train them to become less aggressive, you can make sure that you do not tolerate their behavior.

You can make your cat wear a collar with a bell. This will allow you to easily find them. Also, when you see them begin to stalk you or another person, you can clap your hands or make a loud noise in order to get their attention. When you have successfully done so, they will stop what they are doing.

Some cats also feel like they need to protect their territories. They become aggressive when a person or another cat tries to get into an area that they feel like they own. Your cats that exhibit territory based aggression can be heard making loud and distinctive noises. When faced with another cat, they can hiss and growl as well.

This behavior can be controlled using a few strategies. When you need to introduce a new cat in the home, you can prevent aggressive behavior from your cat that is already living there by confining the new cat inside one room on the first day. This room has to be one that the old cat does not frequent. Then on the next days, you can begin exposing them from one room to another.

You also need to feed them separately on the first few days to a week or two. When you find them fighting each other, you need to separate them and take them to separate rooms until they have calmed down.

Cats that have become mothers can be the ones that show the most aggressiveness. To avoid getting into trouble, make sure that you keep her kittens with her or near her. Also, do not let another cat come near, especially one that is unfamiliar to her.
