Horse Stables And How To Clean And Maintain Them

As a horse owner, it is of utmost importance to be able to say that your stables are hygienic and clean all over. It's one thing for your horse to be dirty and smelly while outside your stables but once they get home, they need to be clean and groomed. You know this beforehand, when you planned on taking in horses to domesticate, you have been briefed of how stinky these horses can get, how hard they are to groom and clean, and you agreed on taking up the challenge. But how about the stable maintenance; you can clean the horse but if his home isn't as tidy, then what use would it be right?

The 8 to 10 hour magic mess - picture this, you are having a good day, it's time for cleaning the stables again. All is good, you don't complain, it's all in a day's work. Then after 8 to 10 hours you come back and the mess is back again! All those horse crap! Is there no end in sight?! Well, the answer is definitely yes, the end in sight as long as you keep those horses stabled. Fact of the matter is you need to be cleaning the stables once every day, ideally. Get used to cleaning it and make it a routine, it won't be as hard later on.

Get a good rake and fork - and have backups in case it breaks accidentally. These tools are your best friends. You get to use them every day and they will help you immensely in your stable cleaning task. Obviously you need to find sturdy ones that you can use and abuse on a daily basis, so don't be stingy. Buy ones that can do the job even though they are a bit expensive.

Clean from edge to edge - if you are going to clean the stables thoroughly, better do it as so. Get down and dirty from the edge to the other edge of the stable. Practicality dictates that you start from the far right to the far left (or left to right, whichever you prefer) and don't leave a stone unturned. It's silly to think that your horse might be hiding their poop but just to be thorough, look everywhere. It's amazing how people just tend to clean the most obvious spot and not care to look at the hidden spots of the stable. Imagine finding out one day that rats infested those spots? Won't be fun cleaning that right?

It's great to have horses, they are good and helpful domesticated animals. Just be sure to be responsible with them. If you think you can't handle the stress of cleaning up their sheds, hire other people. If you still can't, then better stick with dogs and cats. Happy horsing!
