Dog health is completely depending on what you feed your dog. Diet regime containing all types of food and all essential nutrients will help to maintain dog health at good condition. If you are able to feed all nutrients, it will help dog to fight against disease condition. However, several factors you have to consider while choosing dog food.

First factor is nutritional requirement of dog. Every dog has its specific nutritional requirement and it depend on age, height, weight, sex and health condition of dog. You have to consider all these factors before buying any food to keep dog health at optimum level. Dog's protein requirement is higher than human, so protein rich food is first need of dog.

Other than this dog, also need some essential amino acids, vitamin, mineral, carbohydrate etc. in adequate amount. These can be fulfilled by feeding different type of food containing different nutrients.

Dog is carnivorous animal, so first choice of food is meat or chicken. You have to consider this factor. Daily food should contain meat, chicken, and fish. These are rich source of protein, which is major nutritional requirement of dog. However, make sure you are buying meat product and not its byproducts. Fish is good source of fatty acids good for skin health.

There are several types of dog foods available such as organic dog food, natural dog food, commercial dog food etc. You can choose any type of dog food but choosing right food depend on the requirement of dog. Commercial food is not always safe so please read label for ingredients. Always buy food recommended by AAFCO.

Commercial dog food contains toxic chemicals as preservatives and colorants, this are dangerous and cancerous. Organic dog food is another best choice for you but can be expensive also. It does not contain any chemical in it and considered as safe.

Puppies have higher calorie requirement as compare to adult dog. To meet this requirement feeding frequency should be 3-4 time per day. Whereas senior dog has low calorie requirement so feeding should be reduced. Breeding and lactating dog has special requirement, so please consult with pet vet about this.

Besides this, also remember that some foods are toxic for dog health such as alcohol, chocolate, coffee, milk and milk products. You have to avoid this. Your love and affection towards dog has to be in dog care and dog health.
