It is likely for people to be fond of pets but commonly, dogs are preferred. They are known to be man’s best friend because they are so easy to tame and very useful in so many different ways. Like humans, dogs can suffer from diarrhea caused by several factors like dehydration, worms in the stomach, foods consumed, and infection as well. Such disease in dogs is one of the major grounds why owners go to veterinary clinics-to seek dog diarrhea cures.

Dehydration can occur because plenty of water elimination takes place with such condition. One of the dog diarrhea cures is to keep the dog hydrated by persuading it to drink clean water in large amounts. Do this approach right away when signs of dryness or sticky gums are already seen in the dogs. Lactade is also a re-hydration therapy that can be taken in orally to undo dehydration. It is recommended to give 8 to 30 ml of Lactade once every 30 minutes within 24 hours according to the veterinary’s prescription.

Offer the dog mild servings of foods such as boiled chicken, boiled egg, boiled or baked potato, boiled turkey and cooked rice at least three times daily, all of which must not have flavorings, butter, or even oil. Fiber-rich vegetables and fruits can help deal with the condition as well. Monitor the dog’s behavior and slowly increase the quantity of the food if symptoms appears to improve.

Pumpkin can be useful in curing both constipation and diarrhea in dogs. It can help make watery feces compact in just a few hours. The amount of pumpkin to be given to the dog depends on how big or small he is. Pumpkins can be served in canned, cooked, or mashed- commonly, two teaspoon fulls for small dogs and two tablespoons for the big ones. Refrain from giving snacks, leftovers, and bones to the dog suffering from diarrhea for it can just aggravate the dog’s intestinal tract.

Loperamide Immodium and Pepto-Bismol are used by people to help them overcome diarrhea. These medications can also be used by dogs affected of the disease. It is suggested to provide Pepto-Bismol in a proportion of 1 ml for each 10 lbs. of the weight of the dog, three times daily in a week. In case of Loperamide Immodium, it can be given to the dog using the ratio 0.5 mg in each 10 lbs. of the dog’s heaviness thrice everyday.

These dog diarrhea cures are all effective in their own ways but should be done along with the vet’s prescription. Visit the nearest or your trusted veterinary clinic and make sure that the stool you bring with you is new for tests.
