Building Pet Stairs or a Ramp

They say that a pet is a man's best friend. Well they say a dog is actually. Many people love their pets and know that their pets have some kind of affection towards them in a special way that allows them to be able to share moments and time together. Your pet may be the kind that follows you around the house or the yard and you may want to build or assemble a set of stairs or a ramp for your pet to be able to cross over certain obstacles.

To do this, you will need a number of things to be in place before you can actually build or assemble one. Although you do not need that much experience to build your own pet stairs, you will need to have a level of understanding about your pet that will allow you to start the process.

- Know your pet's confidence factor. Many people do not consider that their pets have an inner fear. Your pet's trust in you is probably quite solid but when you bring a new learning experience or skill such as learning to climb a set of stairs, it may take some time for your pet to get used to the new change. Your pet may be the kind that is better at certain motor skills and will gladly use the set of stairs.

- Find out what is required to get your stair case together: Do you know what things you will need to make the pet stairs? You will probably be using things like wood, nails, some staples, paint, carpet or a covering material and other things. With a quick search on the internet, you will be able to find a number of designs and DIY (do-it-yourself) projects that you can complete yourself in a short period of time.

- Take the measurements that are needed: Is your pet big? Is it small and light? Your pet stairs will be affected by this. You need to take measurements of the exact location of what you will install the stairs. Most pet stairs use 2 steps but some pets are shorter and need more steps, you will probably need to find a plan or project that will suit your pet.

- Making the final choice: If you have gone through the practical steps and looked at the options clearly, you will need to make a practical decision, will it be stairs or a ramp. Though a ramp will require a different design and some more work research to make it, your pet may appreciate it more than the steps. Remember that your pet has some sense of its surroundings as well and you wouldn't want to embark on a building project that will not be effect.

Essentially your pet is still under your control and depending on your unique surroundings, you may choose between the two options, building the Pet Stairs is obviously the easier of the two but it will again depend on your own practical requirements.
