How to Get a Snake Out of Hiding. Think of a snake not wanting to come out of hiding as you not wanting to get out of a warm bed on a cold winter day. If the snake is comfortable and feels safe, he isn't coming out. If you keep your snake in a cage it can become a master escape artist then vanish someplace in your house. There's no need to worry; there are a few tricks you can perform to get him back.

Things Needed

• Lamp
• Mouse
• Foil
• Snake's cage

Step 1

Start by checking everywhere you think the snake might be hiding. Look for any place that's dark and cozy. For example your snake could be hiding in backpacks, in the couch, draws, shoes or appliances.

Step 2

Wait until it is nighttime because snakes are nocturnal. Place a thawed dead mouse in the room close to where the snake's cage is located.

Step 3

Lay foil or something flat and crinkly around the floor. Place the foil in places where you think the snake may be hiding like under a cabinet or under the bed. You will be able to hear the snake as it moves through the room so you will be able to catch him.

Step 4

Place a lamp near the mouse as a heat source for the snake to cuddle up to.

Step 5

Lower the temperature in the room gradually. The warmth from the lamp will attract the snake. Wait in the room for a couple of hours. It may take a while for the snake to actually move.

Warnings

• If you are not sure where your snake is in your home, sprinkle some flour along areas where you think he may be hiding. The snake could go through it then leave a trail to where it has been hiding.
