How to Get Rid of a Mouse That Won't Go to the Traps or Sticky Boards. Is there anything more frustrating than having a mouse in your house you just cannot trap? Knowing that mice carry fleas, leave droppings and chew through just about anything only adds to the frustration as they avoid your best attempts to trap them. But there are ways to catch even the sneakiest of mice, or, at minimum, to drive them out of your house -- and it is probably easier than you might guess.

Things Needed

• Cat
• Cat or dog fur
• Electronic rodent repellent

Step 1

Let a cat roam freely around your house, both inside and out. Whether you adopt a cat or just borrow one for a while, your home will benefit from just having the cat in your home. The scent the cat leaves behind naturally repels rodents. A good cat will explore the entire house, leaving its scent, while a great cat will locate any mouse activity, hunt down their prey and eliminate it.

Step 2

Introduce the scent of a predator by sprinkling some cat or dog hair around the outside of your home. Also put some fur in the areas areas where you've spotted mice or their droppings. This step might also drive the mice toward traps you've put out.

Step 3

Plug in an electronic rodent repellent. The high-pitched sounds these electronic repellents emit cannot be heard by humans but effectively drive mice and rodents out of the house.
